What makes a boho wedding dress?

Three things, working together. A fabric that moves: chiffon, tulle or crepe, never a stiff satin. Delicate lace with a botanical rather than geometric pattern, often laid over a sheer bodice or sleeves. And a cut that leaves the body free, with no visible boning and no ball gown volume. A dress can have lace without being boho; it’s the combination that counts.

Boho or country?

The two styles are close and often confused. The easiest way to tell them apart: country and rustic dresses are simpler, with a shorter train, designed for an outdoor wedding where you’ll be on your feet a lot. Boho dresses can have a train, layers and statement sleeves. A country dress is almost always in chiffon or crepe; a boho dress can be in tulle.

Boho details to look for

Flutter sleeves and puff sleeves are part of the boho look: they soften the silhouette while covering the arms. An open back, plunging or sheer, is common too. Our lightest designs also work beautifully for a civil ceremony.
