A backless wedding dress plays with a fully bare back, a deep V or a sheer lace panel. It’s often where the embroidery and covered buttons come together, too.

Three different things. A backless dress leaves the back truly bare. A V-back plunges to a point without necessarily showing much skin. A sheer or illusion back uses a panel of tulle or lace: the opening is visible, but the skin stays covered. We’ve kept this collection strict: only genuinely open-back designs appear here.
A deep open back needs support built into the dress, so the fitting really matters: check it in a bridal shop, sitting and standing. Designs with a sheer back give you the same look with more support. For a church ceremony, a long bridal cape can cover your back during the service and come off afterwards.
During the ceremony, your guests will mostly see you from behind. The back views on each product page show the lacing, the covered buttons and the fall of the train: look at them as closely as the front. To try them on, find a stockist near you.
