A ball gown adds curves to a slim, straight figure and shows off a defined waist beautifully, while skimming over the hips and thighs. On a very petite bride, though, all that volume can be overwhelming: in that case, a gentler flare such as an A-line wedding dress<\/a> may suit you better.<\/p>\n The volume comes either from several layers of tulle or from mikado, a fabric that holds its shape on its own without heavy structure. Tulle gives a soft, matte fullness; mikado gives crisp folds and an architectural fall. Satin<\/a> sits somewhere between the two, with more sheen. In a small room or at a garden wedding on grass, the train quickly becomes a hindrance.
